WELCOMES TEAM FIJI FROM PACIFIC GAMES

Fiji tonight hosted the Fiji Sevens Team, the Paralympic Team, and Brand Ambassadors Banuve Tabakaucoro,
Tieri Erasito and James Bolabiu at a
welcome function at their offices, Kadavu House, Suva.
They
were part of Team Fiji who made Fiji proud by finishing 4th at the
Pacific Games in Noumea, New Caledonia with 34 gold, 44 silver and 53 bronze
medals.
Digicel
Fiji CEO David Butler says, “We are very proud of the high achievement of Team
Fiji and of the results achieved during the Pacific Games 2011. All the athletes
associated with Digicel have displayed extraordinarily promising results for
future success at not only the Pacific Games, but internationally. Digicel will
continue to support the development of sports in the communities.”
Banuve
Tabakaucoro won Gold for all his events with three Gold medals. Banuve
Tabakaucoro broke record at the games in the 200m final by clocking 21.06sec.
His performance has been outstanding and distinguished given his age matched
against his fitness level and performance.
Tieri
Erasito came home with the most medals, winning six medals from her events. Tieri
Erasito also broke record in the 15 -16 age group 200m Butter-Fly with a new
record of 2.28.63. She has been provided with the opportunity to further her
education in the United Kingdom and also be part of a renowned swim club that
will help with her development.
The
Fiji Sevens Team came home with a Silver Medal. Ranjesh Prasad of the Paralympic team also won
a Silver Medal for his 100m event.
Digicel
is also proud to announce that Brand Ambassador Iliesa Delana has qualified for
the Olympic Games 2012; the only entrant from the region so far.
